Teenage acne

Acne occurs to almost all teenagers, if you are a teenager, chances are huge for you to have acne problem. Almost 3 out of 4 teenagers have acne problem on their skin. Acne is a state of the skin that exhibits different types of scar or pimple (whiteheads and blackheads). These scars can be blackheads, whiteheads, pimples. Acne occurs to Teenagers because of the hormonal changes that take place in teenage years. Boys tend to have them more on their skin surface, and the acne tends to be more severe. It is a genetic problem so if your parents ever had acne problem during their teenage then you are most likely going to have acne on your skin as well. The big relief for all teenagers is that this problem does not persist for long time, mostly all the teenagers get free from acne, once they complete their teen age period.

Acne vulgaris is the most common type of acne that a lot of teenagers suffer from vulgaris (means "of the common type"). It occurs on mainly on the face, neck, shoulders, upper back, and chest of the teenagers. The pores on your skin have sebaceous oil glands. These glands produce sebum; sebum is oil which lubricates your hair and skin. Generally, the sebaceous glands produce just the right amount of sebum. When a teenager's body starts to develop and mature, hormones rouse the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, and the glands may turn out to be extra active. Skin pores get blocked, if there is way too much sebum and dead skin cells present on your skin. Bacteria also can then get attentive inside the skin pores and increase, and causes swelling and redness which is an initial state of acne.

People have different opinions about the cause of acne on teenager's skin. There is a contradiction to the fact that acne develops on your skin by greasy foods like oily food or pizzas etc, munching on chocolate, or drinking cold drink, but it is not the truth. Even Stress does not cause acne usually either; it can increase the existing acne to grow a little more but does not cause to develop new acne. Acne has got nothing to do with common hygiene either even though this is not a cause to stop washing, good hygiene does help you to keep your skin fresh, clean and prevents infection.

It is very well known that knowingly or unknowingly teenagers squeeze their acne to get rid of it but this is not the right way to get rid of acne problem, it will only worsen the acne conditions. Instead of squeezing acne try various treatments that are safe to get rid of acne. If you feel your acne problem is severe consult your family doctor and look for the proper treatment if required.
